Walmart-owned Flipkart has recently launched a contactless, QR-code-based payment facility for all its pay-on-delivery shipments. This facility will help consumers, who have opted for cash-on-delivery, to make payments via any approved UPI app. To check Flipkart QR code, all a consumer needs to do is scan the QR code attached to their purchase and initiate a digital payment for their order through any UPI app at the time of delivery. Ranjith Boyanapalli, Flipkart Head Fintech and Payments Group, in an official statement said, “As the lines between e-commerce marketplace and fintech continue to converge, it becomes imperative to solve for customers’ evolving needs and attitudes. While the pandemic has urged several consumers to make a shift to online shopping, some trust deficit during checkout remains in pockets.” The Flipkart scan QR to pay will not only strengthen consumers’ trust in digital transactions but also focusses on improving user safety, thus contributing to an overall increase in the adoption of digital commerce in the near future.
